CMA CGM and PSA to establish new container terminal JV in Si

CMA CGM and PSA Singapore Terminals have agreed to create a new joint venture (JV) company, CMA CGM-PSA Lion Terminal (CPLT).


The new company will operate and use four mega container berths at Pasir Panjang Terminal phases III and IV in Singapore.

CPLT is expected to commence operations in the second half of this year.

According to CMA CGM, the new JV firm will help the company and its shipping line affiliates to leverage port infrastructure and technologies at the latest Pasir Panjang expansion that will serve mega vessels in the region.

CPLT will offer long-term terminal services to CMA CGM and its shipping line affiliates.

CMA CGM Group vice chairman Rodolphe Saadé said: "CMA CGM is pleased to announce this important partnership with PSA.

"It is a significant step, demonstrating the ongoing importance of Singapore to our strategy, and delivering on our commitment to making Singapore the Asian hub for the Group."

PSA International Group CEO Tan Chong Meng said: "PSA looks forward to working alongside CMA CGM to ensure that its hub operations flourish, and enhance Singapore's premier status as the world's busiest transhipment hub."

CMA CGM, which has around 536 vessels, provides sea, land and logistics solutions to its customers.
